Free Vibration Characterization Analysis of Herringbone Planetary Gear Train
PROCEEDINGS OF THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND MECHANICS, VOLS 1 AND 2, pp.910-915

Abstract
A dynamic model for predicting the free vibration characterization including the natural frequencies and vibration modes of herringbone planetary gear train(HPGT) is proposed. Torsional, translational and axial generalized displacements are considered for two rings while only the torsion and translation are considered for the sun, planets and carrier. Vibration modes of this gear train are classified into rotational and axial modes, translational modes, planet modes, rotational and axial modes of rings and translational modes of rings. The influence of key planetary design parameters including planets number, support stiffness, torsion stiffness, masses, moments of inertia on the natural frequencies is studied in numerical example analysis.
