In this paper we report on the generation of MSK modulated MM-wave subcarrier using a highspeed tunable optical transmitter. The millimeter wave signal is generated by beating the output of two Nd:YVO/sub 4//MgO:LiNbO/sub 3/ electro-optically tunable single mode microchip lasers realized monolithically in a single composite crystal. By applying a digital voltage signal to the electro-optic section, MSK modulation is impressed onto the millimeter wave subcarrier. Experimentally, an 8 MHz symbol rate MSK signal at 8 GHz carrier frequency was successfully generated and analyzed.
