Proceedings of the Second World Conference on Structural Control, Vol.3, pp.2359-2368

Abstract
Demands for increased performance and safety levels for civil infrastructure systems are propelling engineers to search for more innovative and integrated operation and management approaches. A primary area of innovation is intelligent infrastructure. To generate the broad spectrum of new knowledge and technologies that are needed for intelligent infrastructure, the current detachment between theory and practice has to be eliminated. This paper presents the writers' progress in formulating and developing bridge health monitoring concepts, strategies, tools and data. An applied research agenda to further the state of practice is also proposed.
