Abstract
This volume contains the proceedings of a 2002 SPIE conference on nondestructive evaluation and health monitoring of aerospace materials and civil infrastructure. The twenty papers included are organized into the following sections: NDE and health monitoring of civil infrastructure; Damage detection in composites; thermal wave imaging and full-field NDE; NDE and health monitoring of aerospace systems; and Developments in ultrasonics and field theory. Individual papers discuss such topics as: utilizing the sequential probability ratio test for building joint monitoring; the nondestructive evaluation of ceramic matrix composites coupled with finite element analyses; damage location and identification using infrared thermography and thermoelastic stress analysis; the feasibility of healing delaminations in an AS4/PEEK composite plate; the investigation of delaminations with ultrasonic spectroscopy, and structural health monitoring using wireless sensing systems with embedded processing.
