Abstract

Best practices Conferences Drugs Informatics Medical services online social support opioid use in pregnancy Pregnancy Schedules
Drug use in pregnancy threatens the well-being of mothers and their unborn children. Existing literature provides clinical best practices for treating pregnant women with opioid misuse but also highlights how drug use impedes access to care. Little research has focused on pregnant women who seek to recover from drug use without professional help. In this study, we examined the prevalence of attempted recovery methods among such women in relation to their online social support seeking behaviors using a mixed-method approach. Our findings offer first-of-its-kind insights into the support requested by those who are reluctant or unable to secure professional drug treatment during pregnancy.
