Optical Control of Microwave Phase Detectors and Phase Locked Oscillators
1990 20th European Microwave Conference, v 1(20), pp 573-578

Abstract
The optical control of microwave phase detectors and phase locked oscillators offers new ways to improve the performance of the optical transmission of microwave signals. This technique presents several advantages by reducing the relatively high noise of fiber optic links, providing a simple solution for phase shifting, providing a high gain without applying microwave amplifiers, requiring no microwave mixers and filters in the transmitter, and being well applicable for MMIC's.
