Oral Sex: The New Standard of Intimacy

Abstract
Using newly available longitudinal data on oral sex practices an analysis is made of usage by: sex, SC, educational rank, & occupational type. Media treatment of oral sex, as in the movies: "The Pawnbroker," "Shampoo," "Deep Throat," & "Saturday Night Fever," is discussed, along with references to oral sex in the vernacular. Special attention is paid to the possible motivation for changing norms, the persistence of deep-rooted ambivalence, the role of women's liberation movement, & the cultural prospects for oral sex in the decades ahead.
