Abstract

Power electronics Pulse width modulation Pulse width modulation converters Pulse width modulation inverters Signal to noise ratio Stability Stochastic processes Stochastic resonance Switching converters Uncertainty
This paper presents a stochastic model of an inverter with practical uncertainties. The stochastic model is based on the introduction of perturbations in the duty ratio of switching converters as random noise processes, which has been developed by the use of the theory of stochastic differential calculus. The characteristics and performance of a stochastic power converter model are evaluated. Attention is mainly focused on finding performance indices, critical energy (E/sub c/) and the mean first passage time (MFPT). It is shown that the MFPT provides further insights into inverter's vulnerability due to switching time uncertainties.
