Permeability Extraction of FeCo Soft Magnetic Nanoparticles using Annular Ring Resonator for Reconfigurable RF Circuits
2014 IEEE Benjamin Franklin Symposium on Microwave and Antenna Sub-systems for Radar, Telecommunications, and Biomedical Applications (BenMAS)
01 Jan 2014
Abstract
Reconfigurable and tunable antennas/filters are developed using FeCo soft magnetic nanoparticles for various Radio Frequency (RF) applications. The RF component designs considered are based on annular ring resonator structures with a composite substrate of magnetic Fe60Co40 nanoparticles deposited on an FR4 substrate. Permeability characterization of Fe60Co40 is performed for a ring resonator at 3.0GHz with and without external magnetic fields. Extraction procedure is based on best fitting of electromagnetic field simulator to the experimental results of the composite substrate. The extracted results of soft magnetic permeability are used along with an external magnetic field to develop tunable filter and antenna components for wireless applications.
