Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to showcase the design and production of an educational virtual reality experience within the area of paleontology education. At the center is the development of an immersive documentary about the titanosaur Dreadnoughtus schrani. We explain the current state of the art of the technology as well as the production steps necessary to develop advanced virtual reality content. While many of these steps still present challenges for the average educational institution, the technology is starting to enter a phase where educational VR production is no longer completely out of reach for interested educators.
