Abstract
The heterogeneous nature of information available via the World Wide Web at different data repositories and in a multitude of varying formats makes the search for information time consuming and at times frustrating. Seismology and earthquake engineering are areas where the exchange of data is an absolute necessity. Existing seismic spatial array data are extremely difficult to query, retrieve, analyze and visualize given their current state of availability and accessibility over the Internet in spite of their extensive usage and significance in seismic hazard assessment. This paper presents an effort to collect spatial array data at a single site, present them in a uniform data and metadata format in accordance to international and community standards, provide them with analytical modules geared towards the practicing engineer as well as an engineering seismology/earthquake engineering researcher, develop a user-friendly web-portal to make the system available to the community, and disseminate the effort broadly by incorporating the system after its completion to a widely accessed engineering site.
