Abstract
Conference Title: 2013 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and RF Conference Conference Start Date: 2013, Dec. 14 Conference End Date: 2013, Dec. 16 Conference Location: New Delhi, India Passively temperature stabilized opto-electronic oscillators (OEO) using composite Hollow Core -- Photonic Crystal Fiber (HC-PCF) and Single Mode Fibers (SMF-28) are analyzed and reasons for a poor close in to carrier phase noise is justified due to a low effective quality factor. The reported phase noise performance is quantified and attributed to excessive loss of HC-PCF fibers. In addition analysis of loss compensation through the Raman amplification of composite fibers in a passively temperature compensated 10 GHz OEO is presented predicting extremely low phase noise under practical operating conditions.
