Abstract
This paper describes a series of tests conducted at the Commodore Barry Bridge, a major long span bridge crossing the Delaware River at Chester, Pennsylvania and Bridgeport, New Jersey. The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA), which owns this bridge and three other major toll-bridge crossings of the Delaware River in the Philadelphia area, has partnered with the Drexel Intelligent Infrastructure Institute (DIII) to conduct a research project study on structural identification of the bridge and characterization of its loading environment. This paper introduces and briefly discusses some of the work that is currently underway.
