This dataset is part of the ESCALA (Study of Urban Health and Climate Change in Informal Settlements in Latin America) project that was funded by the Lacuna Fund of the Meridian Institute https://lacunafund.org/. This dataset contains the geographic layer of neighborhoods of Barranquilla, Colombia, 2024. They come from the Territorial Planning: "Mapa de Barrios de Barranquilla Según el POT 2024" from the District of Barranquilla (Distrito Especial, Industrial y Portuario de Barranquilla) downloaded from https://www.datos.gov.co/Vivienda-Ciudady-Territorio/Mapa-de-Barrios-de-Barranquilla-Seg-n-el-POT/p57x-7s28. Some neighborhoods in the layer "Mapa de Barrios de Barranquilla Según el POT 2024" do not have an assigned locality (higher level administrative unit), while others are located across more than one locality. Locality definition for those neighborhoods is described below. Neighborhoods that did not have an assigned locality, or that were located across several localities, were assigned locality names based on the city's political-administrative division map from 2017 (https://www.barranquilla.gov.co/descubre/conoce-abarranquilla/ territorio) The attribute table of the original layer was modified to add the following attributes: ID_NEI, NAME, LOCALITY. An NA value in NAME indicates that there is no official name for that neighborhood.
