Dataset
Land Surface Temperature by Epidemiological Week fro Bogota, Colombia, 2000-2022
2025
Abstract
This dataset is part of the ESCALA (Study of Urban Health and Climate Change in Informal Settlements in Latin America) project that was funded by the Lacuna Fund of the Meridian Institute https://lacunafund.org/.
This dataset contains land surface temperatures from Landsat satellites. Satellite imagery was processed in Google Earth Engine as follows. Images from the Landsat 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 collections were selected for the period of interest (2000-01-01 to 2022-12-31) with a maximum cloud cover of 20%. For each image, land surface temperature in °C was calculated from the thermal band (ST_B*) using the scaling parameters from the product guide, and a cloud and shadow mask was applied. The images were cropped to the urban perimeter area. The dataset consists of 119 raster images where each pixel has a LST value for a specific date. Original data are acquired at a spatial resolution of 120 m (Landsat 5), 60 m (Landsat 7) and 100 m (Landsat 8 and 9), and distributed at 30 m.
