Abstract

Chemical Oceanography Ecological Impacts of Climate Change Ecosystem Function FOS: Earth and related environmental sciences
Between October 2009 and August 2013, we sampled four sites in the inner and outer continental shelf directly south of Narragansett Bay and Nantucket Shoals (Figure S1). We had three inner continental shelf sites, designated as Block Island Sound (BIS; 12 site visits, n = 40) and Rhode Island Sound 1 and 2 (RIS1: 4 site visits, n = 12 and RIS2: 11 site visits, n = 33). We had one outer continental shelf, designated as the “mud patch” (MP; 3 site visits, n = 23) (Figure S1). Only three sites were sampled in 2009 (BIS, RIS1, and RIS2), the full suite of sites were subsequently sampled from 2010 to 2013. We conducted sampling in January, May, July, August, September, and October to capture the seasonal range in this system.
