Police-Reported Road Traffic Crashes in Bogota, Colombia, 2014-2022
2025
Abstract
This dataset is part of the ESCALA (Study of Urban Health and Climate Change in Informal Settlements in Latin America) project that was funded by the Lacuna Fund of the Meridian Institute https://lacunafund.org/.
This dataset contains police-reported collisions in Bogota, Colombia between 2014-2022, provided by the Secretaria de Movilidad de Bogota. The data included agregated data at collision level from the Secretaria de Movilidad de Bogota, as well as data about the vehicles and victims involved. For the preprocessing of this dataset several columns from the agregated data were deleted as it was considered that the data contained no useful information for the current study. Additionally undefined domains in variable COLOBJTYP were merged into a single value named 'unknown.' The files include a geographic information systems (GIS) shapefile with the latitude and longitude coordinates of each collision, as well as a tables with information about the victims and vehicles involved, linkable to the GIS file and to each other. The only preprocessing required for this data included comparing the ID_COL attribute from this dataset with the ID_COL attribute from the collision dataset- It was found that all ID_COL in the present data is also present in the collision data.
