Abstract
This dataset is part of the ESCALA (Study of Urban Health and Climate Change in Informal Settlements in Latin America) project that was funded by the Lacuna Fund of the Meridian Institute https://lacunafund.org/.
This data set contains registered death of a person residing in Bogota, Colombia by age, sex, locality, cause, month and year, 2005-2022. The data were provided by DANE (Spanish acronym for "National Administrative Department of Statistics") and the RUAF-ND (Spanish acronym for "Births and Deaths Module of the Single Affiliation Registry") for subsequent consolidation and publication at datosabiertos.bogota.gov.co. Considering that the information is extracted from sources that consolidated it, it is not possible to describe how duplicate records and missing values are handled. The data is anonymized and obtained directly from the source from which it was extracted for this project. However, the publication of these databases was validated by various national entities, providing some confidence for their use. Data cleaning included: (1) Remove the variables related to causes of death according to systems 105 and 6/67, as it was decided to only work with the ICD-10 system. (2) Remove the column corresponding to the locality name, as the urban units provided in this project, identified by the primary key ID_LOC, are used for this purpose. (3) Adjust each variable by assigning the names established in the data dictionary and categorizing them according to the defined domains.
