Abstract

Earth and Environmental Sciences Medicine, Health and Life Sciences
The prism_extreme_weather_dataset features daily 2010 tract level extreme weather metrics across the contiguous United States, for the years 2009-2023. Drexel analysts produced daily tract level exposures to extreme heat, cold, and precipitation defined as any day or series of days exceeding a tract inclusion county's 99th percentile temperature or precipitation value (cold below 1st percentile). Weather data was sourced from Oregon State University's 800 m PRISM (Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model) dataset, which provides estimates of temperature and precipitation (and more!) at fine geographic scales.
