Abstract
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore the connection between administrative leadership and teacher morale during times of crises. A crisis is defined as, "a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger." (Oxford Languages, n.d.), one example being the COVID-19 pandemic. The study utilized a phenomenological design to identify how administrative leadership impacts morale in both positive and negative ways. These factors may be influential when creating the best possible work environment, particularly as the world becomes more complex and the likelihood of crises continues. The research questions that guided this study are, How does a school administrator's approach to crisis leadership impact teacher morale? a. How did teachers in a small suburban school district experience a school administrator's influence on their overall morale during the COVID-19 pandemic? b. How do school administrators in a small suburban school district describe their approach to crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic? This research sought to provide a better understanding of the relationship between administrative leadership and teacher morale to positively influence teacher morale during a crisis.
