Collegiality Technological pedagogical knowledge Veteran teacher Professional Development Technology
Teaching using technology has become a major focus for veteran and novice teachers alike. This qualitative study explored veteran teachers' use of collegiality to enhance their use of technology in high school teaching in a public school district in New Jersey. The population of interest for this study was experienced high school teachers with over five years' experience in the classroom. This qualitative case study examined how veteran teachers gain their technological pedagogical knowledge through colleagues, professional learning communities, peer-to-peer professional development, and other means. The researcher utilized semi-structured interviews with ten subjects as well as a review of professional learning community agendas and minutes from the school's faculty and employed coding to find themes and illustrative quotes from the ten subjects involved in the research. This study aimed to provide information on the various ways teachers add to their technological pedagogical knowledge to inform future ways of learning about technology. Administrators, teachers, and students could all benefit from additional research in this area, which constitutes a gap in the research on how teachers gain knowledge of technology.
