Abstract
This qualitative collective case study was designed to examine successfully developed inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) programs for students with intellectual disability at community colleges in order to determine the strategies, processes, and procedures used by program developers. The population and sample consisted of two Pennsylvania community colleges with IPSE programs, and participants included individuals who participated in or could speak to the program development process. Data were gathered through semi-structured individual interviews and document review. This study identified seven results based on analysis of data, including: (a) plan ahead, (b) enlist support, (c) identify and utilize existing supports, (d) plan for sustainability, (e) programs must be useful, and (f) connect with the disability community. These results offer a solid base for prospective program developers at other community colleges interested in developing inclusive programming on their own campuses.
