Design creativity is a valuable resource that significantly influences the outcomes designers generate for society. The process and delivery of design outcomes necessitate the presence of resilience and values. This research aims to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of design creativity when confronted with sustainability design constraints and stakeholder relationships. Within scholarly and professional circles, there remains to be more consensus regarding whether constraints diminish or enhance creativity. While prevailing research suggests that constraints generally hurt employee creativity, this is only sometimes the case for skilled designers. Nonetheless, clarifying the relationship between sustainability constraints and design creativity is crucial. The qualitative research involved 17 semi-structured in-depth interviews with designers specializing in various design disciplines, including industrial, product, surface, furniture, built interior, textile, and architectural design lasting 45 to 60 minutes each. The data collected from the interviews underwent constant comparison and selective coding analysis, leading to the emergence of grounded theory. The findings of this research provide valuable insights for design practitioners, shedding light on how their values and resilience drive creativity. However, further investigation is required to delve deeper into these relationships and identify opportunities for integrating the cultivation of authentic relationships into company business practices, ultimately yielding more effective design strategies.
