Abstract

Cultural relevance Dance/movement therapy Education implementation Well-being
The study outlined the components of an emergent DMT use in Thai education and healthcare practice. In a cultural context, dance/movement therapy (DMT) must address power, privilege, and difference. The use of the Grounded Delphi Method (GDM) supported the study in reaching consensus on the most significant and feasible DMT practices, as well as comprehending the larger context of developing DMT education and training in Thailand. This study examined the perspectives of the expert panelists - dance/movement therapists and related professionals - and describes the emerging application of DMT to the Thai population and community. The study addressed the research questions and categorized the concepts pertaining to the role of dance and movement in Thai well-being, the concepts that may shape DMT education and training, the cultural components that may shape DMT practice, and the challenges in introducing a DMT discipline into Thailand's professional mental health sphere. This resulted in a preliminary framework for developing DMT education, training, and practice in Thailand. Categorization of the findings revealed various aspects of DMT's development in Thailand. The report of the study is presented in the format of a journal article manuscript. Keywords: Cultural Relevance, Dance/Movement Therapy, Education/Practice Implementation, Well-Being.
