Abstract
The participant's stories were understood through a narrative inquiry methodology and guided by the following questions: 1. What challenges of leadership were faced by the Latinas in regard to attaining their current role? 2. What roles and opportunities did these Latinas pursue that helped them attain their position? 3. How do these Latina women describe the way they have coped with the challenges they have experienced in pursuing senior leadership roles? The sample included six senior-level Latinas in financial services. Data was collected during two interviews and a reflective journal. After a thorough analysis, four themes emerged: a) the industry and career growth, b) education, c) mentorship, and d) resilience and support systems. This research helped create a path to the C-Suite for Latinas by highlighting some of the tools and opportunities they must pursue in order to achieve leadership positions. The major findings/conclusions are consistent with research on leadership development and experiences of women in male-dominated financial service experience.
