Abstract
In the rapidly evolving landscape of skill recognition and talent acquisition, digital badges have become an alternative skill credential for use in screening candidates during the hiring process. I used a survey to investigate how digital badges are perceived by individuals in hiring functions and how digital badges affect the decision to interview a job candidate. In subsequent conjoint analysis, I report the trade-offs between digital badges, traditional credentials, and work experience in the decision to interview. The main findings suggest that digital badges are positively perceived by hiring managers and impactful in the hiring selection process.
