When showing up to a hospital or doctor's office for an appointment, the main goal is to receive all pertinent information about your health, whether it's a definitive diagnosis, second opinion, referral to a specialist, treatment plan options, or even palliative care options. However, certain patients, particularly those categorized as having healthcare disparities do not always feel they adequately receive this pertinent medical information regarding their health, due to a lack of effective communication between them and their physician. This study will focus on gaining the patient's assessment on how effectively they believe their physician communicates with them during a visit and if they believe their care was adversely impacted by this style of communication. A secondary focal point that will also be discussed is racial disparities and if the patient's race may also play a part in the way information is communicated to them.
