Abstract

Emotional and behavioral disorders General education teachers Rural education
This phenomenological study explores the perspectives of elementary general education teachers in rural school districts on supporting students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD). With limited resources and unique challenges in rural settings, teachers play a crucial role in fostering academic and behavioral success for students with EBD. Drawing from semi-structured interviews with ten experienced educators, the study illuminates the strategies, challenges, and resources that influence their perceived effectiveness. These insights will contribute to understanding how rural educators navigate support for students with EBD, offering recommendations to strengthen educational practices and outcomes in under-resourced settings. Keywords: emotional and behavioral disorders, rural education, general education teachers.
