Abstract
Over 20 years of research in the teaching of writing to students with disabilities exist, but little information is available on how to implement instruction to students with challenging behaviors, including secondary students in full-time special education settings. Teachers in these programs are responsible for providing a higher level of instruction to narrow the gap between the students' abilities and achievement, yet they are faced with additional barriers to implementation, often resulting in less instruction than in the traditional setting.
