This study examines the effects of alcohol deregulation, a topic of increasing relevance amid global trends toward loosening regulatory controls across various sectors. By analyzing recent policy changes in Pennsylvania--where legislation has progressively expanded retail access to alcohol--this research offers insights into the broader implications of deregulation. Findings from this analysis may serve as a proxy for anticipating the effects of deregulation in other regulated markets, including cannabis, gambling, tobacco, housing, and utilities. The study contributes to a growing body of literature aimed at informing policymakers of potential economic and social trade-offs associated with deregulatory reforms.
