Abstract

Industrial management Teams in the workplace Ability Teams in the workplace--Psychological aspects
Despite the numerous studies on team research including team member composition and team performance there is a lack of understanding in not only how team member change affects performance but also how that change including compositional change affects performance differently based on the timing of the change and magnitude of that change. The implications of these changes and their effect on performance not only have an impact in expanding our theoretical insights but also the business implications. We take past theory focused on team member change, compositional attributes, and types of performance metrics to build out our hypotheses and impact that they will have. We first hypothesize that the timing of team member change will affect the team's performance, additionally we state that the proportionality of the change will also impact team performance. Finally, we factor in that compositional change for the attributes of GSE and grit in a team will also affect team performance. An important factor in this research is also the definition of performance and how it is important classify performance between financial and non-financial metrics. Performance has a many different definitions and classifying the influence of different variables on financial performance, more task focus, versus non-financial performance, more relational and long term focused, is another area that needs additional insight. Through this research we are opening additional doors and insights into the world of team research and the impact that member change in team has on performance and organizations.
