Background: Inequalities in medical care have been a constant epidemic in the United States of America for several years. Consequently, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), passed in 2010 and was fully implemented in 2014, with the aim to expand healthcare coverage and bring about a new era of healthcare access and decrease these inequalities. The passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) initiated the transformation of the United States healthcare system. The ACA fosters a preventative healthcare model that emphasizes primary care, funds community health initiatives, and promotes quality and preventive care. Methods: Through a survey amongst women ages 18-45 in the downtown Philadelphia area, towards a closer look into the effects of the Affordable Care Act on women with systemic analysis. Evaluation: Fifty completed questionnaires were compiled together and the results were analyzed with the SPSS software. A Pearson Correlation was determined for the results. Significance and Implications: With the Affordable Care Act in effect, more women have improved access to care and preventive medicine. The rate of unwanted pregnancies and the ability to detect abnormalities has become a positive outcome.
