Abstract

The manuscripts which follow constitute a special issue of Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics. To be considered as a special issue, a group of manuscripts must have a unique and common theme related to the major topics of CMIG itself. A good example of this is the recent issue concerned with three-dimensional imaging (1). At first glance, it may not be at all clear how the present articles are inter-related either with each other or with main goals of the Journal. This is due to the somewhat unique character of the major theme of this special issue which is diversity in biomedical imaging. [1st paragraph]
