Abstract
Editor's Note: George Spivack and Myrna B. Shure were honored at the 1984 Annual Meeting of the American Psychological Association in Toronto, Canada, August 25, 1984, receiving the Award for Distinguished Contributions to Community Psychology and Community Mental Health by the Community Psychology Division of the Association. This selection was made by an awards committee composed of all the past-Presidents of the Division. Dr. Spivack and Dr. Shure were introduced by James G. Kelly.
This is an expanded version of our joint response presented upon receiving the 1984 Award for Distinguished Contribution to Community Psychology. We wish to thank Marshall Swift, Kathryn Healey, and Linda Brock for their patience, understanding, and especially their enthusiastic suggestions to improve our presentation.
