Art therapy Bone marrow--Transplantation--Patients Bone marrow--Transplantation--Psychological aspects
Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is an intensive and often life-saving procedure that can lead to a range of psychosocial and physical side effects, including isolation, depression, anxiety, decreased self-esteem, and post-traumatic symptomatology. Limited studies exist which explore the benefits of art therapy with this unique population. This capstone utilized an extensive review of existing literature in order to explore if art therapy can benefit adult patients experiencing medical isolation during BMT treatments. It also seeks to discover if a review of the literature can provide a direction by which these benefits may be proven through continued research and clinical practice.
