Abstract

Art--Management Asian Americans--Study and teaching Choral music--Instruction and study
Nowadays, classical music organizations are plagued by difficulties, including a decline in their audience and lack of attention from younger generations. This thesis explores and analyzes methods to solve these issues. In particular, this thesis suggests that chorus music has unique advantages for promoting classical music among younger generations, as it is widely accepted by educators, parents, and teenagers themselves. In addition, Asian American communities are keen on classical music due to historical factors, and such potential should be taken seriously. Crystal Children's Choir in San Francisco, a choral performing group that mainly consists of Asian American youths, is one such example of how choral music can appeal to younger audiences, including those in Asian American communities. Data collected from the choir provides reference values for the audience-developing strategies of today's classical music performing organizations.
