Abstract
This thesis explores the intersection of cultures, places, and ecologies and how to intentionally combine them through an integrated level of design thinking focusing on the shifting perception of urban living through permaculture practices and regenerative design techniques to augment solutions for urban density. Regenerative design practice is a process that considers cultural, economic, and green space factors as prominent design issues. The instrumentality of integrating building systems makes sustainable life practices accessible to all and adds to the wealth of both human and ecological communities. The objective of a permaculture urban lens is that it can be an agent of change in the transition to an eco-conscious world while also promoting the wellbeing of occupants of future urban landscapes. By experiencing a multi-functional space that promotes health and happiness by utilizing social and natural systems together, physical spaces can revolutionize society's current ontological stance on human culture and natural ecology. The following research outlines the mechanisms related to designing an ecologically friendly urban setting through a place-based approach influenced by the human lived experience as well as technological advancements.
