Abstract
This system is designed to provide a way to collect important information in emergency scenarios in areas that are inaccessible or dangerous for humans to enter. The system will encompass the quadcopter drone used to capture information remotely, the controller for the drone to manually arm and maneuver, and a ground control station that will collect and process the information being sent by the drone. Together these three subsystems will enable data collection in challenging environments and assist with spotting dangerous situations and locating missing people or items that may need rescue. The novel aspect of this system will be an audio sensing system capable of filtering out drone noise and automatically identifying sounds indicative of rescue and emergency needs. This will include an algorithm similar to existing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) methodologies to automatically identify human sounds, such as calls for help, and additional algorithms that can automatically identify the sounds of fire, explosion, live electrical wires, and other important indicators of danger in an emergency scenario.
