Abstract
For this paper, the author reviewed literatures about entrepreneurship, crowdsourcingand crowdfunding. She analyzed data collected from 20 projects' profile pages and interviewed three project creators on Kickstarter.com (a crowdfunding website). All the projects analyzed were in the visual arts field, and the project creators interviewed were individual artists who specialize in visual art. Based on the research, the author draws conclusions on the success or failure of the projects' fundraising campaigns on Kickstarter.com. There were several aspects that influence a project's fundraising results: 1. Video; 2. Ending dates; 3. Simplicity; 4. Emotion; 5. Concreteness; 6. Rewards, etc. By identifying these aspects and suggesting the connections between them, the author paints a clearer picture for artists to conduct effective fundraising campaigns on Kickstarter.com.
