Abstract
The purpose of this project was to cultivate a developmentally appropriate movement-based approach to support adolescents with chronic pain. Relevant literature was reviewed in order to support the development of an informed practice approach. The literature review included articles and research studies that examined chronic pain, early adolescent psychosocial development, current standard treatment methodologies, and the therapeutic factors of dance/movement-based practices. This knowledge was then synthesized and integrated into clinical practice within a pediatric medical setting. Case vignettes are discussed to explore the interconnections between the key concepts and principles from the literature and their applications. The project concludes with reflections on the implementation of this informed-practice approach and offers suggestions for future research.
