This thesis explores the integration of community-engaged codesign in architectural education, emphasizing the need for more comprehensive training and practice in this area. It speculates that community engagement and codesign incorporate complex and intricate topics that must be parsed and taught independently. These topics include design thinking, group facilitation, DEIA, design justice, and design ethics, which need more representation in design curricula. The research explores the transformation of design education, advocating for community engagement and codesign as a central component. Through personal experiences and reflections from workshops and teaching classes, this thesis aims to contribute to the growing conversation on this rich, evolving topic.
