Abstract
An executive transition is a crucial time in the life of any organization. This transition has the potential to be one of growth and development if positioned correctly. Yet, many organizations and much of the literature concerning executive transitions focus on the process and tend to overlook the importance and opportunity of marketing during this crucial period. This thesis explores the importance and the benefits of marketing an executive transition process within an arts organization. In particular, this thesis concentrates on the implementation by the Plano Symphony Orchestra of a marketing plan to their executive director transition.
