Abstract
Virtual reality is currently the only medium that provides a fully immersive narrative experience for audiences while traditional Hollywood films are limited to a passive experience in front of a flat screen with a framed area of vision. When filmmakers who are trained to work in 2-dimensional film enter the playing field that is 360° virtual reality films, they begin using story methods and tools that are currently in developmental infancy. Screenwriters and storyboard artists are among the first team members in the ideation process of 360° virtual reality films and it is here that the first hurdle within the workflow is approached.
