Abstract
How are traditional artistic mediums being reinvented and monetized by art content creators on social media? This question was explored through 25 interviews conducted with artists who operate businesses through social media. Interviewees reported information related to their experiences online, their businesses, their income, and more. Overall, the artists' responses portrayed a healthy entrepreneurial landscape on social media for artists with both large and small followings online. There were however some downsides, such as those tied to the algorithmic nature of social media hindering business, online hate, and artistic burnout.
