Abstract

Engagement and retention have always been a top priority and focus within higher education. Previous studies showed the valuable of engagement from faculty and staff with the students to raise the academic, personal, social achievements. The retention is always at the best when the students feel belong and create connection with professionals - the valuable of relationship and visibility of all professionals to retain students. The purpose of this study was to see what was the level of satisfactory of senior-level administrators' engagement from senior-class students and the expectations from the students' perspectives on engagement. The study took place at Gallaudet University and used mixed-method research (quantitative and qualitative) and collected both results to imbedded both into a discussion. After the review, it was needed to increase the opportunity to engage with senior-level administrators through social media, create a space to connect, and educational experiences. It also determined that students were interested in increased connections with the senior-level administrators, which could lead to next research in more focus group study. Gallaudet University and Student Success can use the data collection and recommendations to improve their engagement, visibility, and relationship with the students to retain them to graduate at Gallaudet.
