Parameter estimation Jackknife (Statistics) Electrical and computer engineering
The selection of the appropriate transformation for aligning two images is anestimation problem: the parameters of the transformation for aligning two imagesare estimated from data such as the location of corresponding points in twoimages. In many cases, however, the appropriate equations for aligning twoimages may not be known: more than one transformation model may be areasonable candidate. Identifying the true transformation is important because it willlead to a more accurate alignment. This research proposes the use of the Jackknife (leave-one-out) method foridentifying the true transformation. The method is tested with computer simulationsof various transformation models and noise levels.
