Abstract
The following paper presents an overview of a graduate level culminating project in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling considering an interdisciplinary approach to neurorehabilitation. The project aims to integrate Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) and Film/Video-Based Therapy (F/VBT) approaches to develop a cross-modality intervention that promotes narrative expression through emotionally motivated content generated in therapeutic contexts. The proposal of creating a narrative dance/movement film was presented to an outpatient neurorehabilitation group regularly engaging in DMT, with the goal of providing a new approach to producing and archiving dance/movement-based works. The following sections outline the background and inspiration for the project, relevant literature in DMT, F/VBT and narrative therapy fields with a focus on neurorehabilitation, the plan and methods for the project's facilitation, and a discussion of main takeaways and implications for future implementation of similar projects.
