Abstract
Linear television has had to adapt to swift changes in technology. No longer can television managers generate viewership as they used to, because of the influence of new competing technology and media platforms. This has been an increasing issue that has rapidly grown during the 2010's. With television platforms and streaming services such as Amazon, Hulu and Netflix proliferate, consumers demand their media consumption to be quicker and more convenient. This thesis provides a deep dive into how social media has grown to affect the way linear television can gain viewership and how advertisers are using this to their advantage as well.
