Abstract
This paper looks at approaches therapists might take to support clients who wish to integrate their religious and spiritual identity and practice in the therapeutic process. It examines the intersection of mind, body, and spirit, by reviewing research surrounding religion and psychology, sacred dance, sacred texts, and dance/movement therapy. The author engaged in a community-based project to further explore this topic. The project focused on the community of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and used Biblical narratives about women to support movement. It was observed that narrative combined with dance/movement therapy interventions might have aided project participants in receiving new insights and deepening their connection to their physical and spiritual selves.
