Abstract
The 798 Art Zone (also known as "798") is one of the well-developed art districts in China. It once had a solid reputation in the art field in China and throughout the rest of the world. The architectural style of that Art Zone is unique and distinctive. The 798 Art Zone has become a hub for contemporary art in China, hosting numerous exhibitions, installations, performances, and cultural events throughout the year. It showcases various artistic disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, design, multimedia, and conceptual art. However, in recent years, intense commercialization has weakened 798's influences. The reason for this is because of the ineffective management strategies that were used. Despite this, the 798 Art Zone retains significant cultural significance. Using primary and secondary sources, this thesis examines the dynamics between the city government, the property management business, the artists, the visitors, and the 798 Art Zone, delves into the current predicament, and proposes solutions.
